Waiting Awhile

I love Janet Jackson's song "Let's wait awhile". When I used to hear it play on the radio, I would think about how nice it would be to not have to rush into relations with someone, and be able to take my time getting to know them better. The song seemed to say what my soul wanted to say but could not. I was a " go with the flow" type of girl and not completely comfortable in my own skin. Needless to say I made my share of mistakes and learned my share of lessons.

As a minister and matchmaker, I'm a firm believer in taking an adequate amount of time to nurture the platonic aspects of a new relationship by being friends first and lovers last. I understand that some like the "test drive" a physical situation, but in the end is rushing really worth it? Better yet, does rushing add to or take away from a woman's or a man's worth?

With the breakups that occur, the families that are broken, the bridges that are burned from rushing into relationships fast when the core developmental stages are done out of order, its my prayer that people will sit back and slow down...and wait awhile.
